Council for the Professions Complementary to Medicine

After graduating as a Lawyer, thirteen years ago, Dr Oliver de Gaetano obtained his warrant to practise as an Advocate in the Maltese islands and subsequently pursued his studies and also received legal training abroad. His main field of specialisation is commercial law, where he has excelled not only as a Legal Advisor but also in the field of litigation. In fact, he has successfully defended various cases, even at a Constitutional level. Moreover, he is a graduate in, and an avid follower of European Law, and throughout his career he has attended multiple working parties within the main institutions of the European Union.

Here he represented local interests when it was required to reach a common agreement about the text of Directives and other legislative instruments, and was also responsible for the transposition thereof. Dr de Gaetano is a natural team leader with effective communication skills, strong ethics and a sense of empathy, having the ability to identify the various functions in a specific task and, where necessary delegate operations accordingly.

He was appointed President of the Council for the Professions Complementary to Medicine in July 2022, where he was instrumental in creating a positive environment, maintaining team morale as well as establishing healthy working relationships with all of the Council members. Currently, he is also a Local Councillor and Minority Leader in the village of Balzan. He is proficient in four languages, namely Maltese, English, Italian and French.
